Slowingo Chrome Extension Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Slowingo ("we", "our", or "us") handles information when you use the Slowingo Chrome Extension.

1. Information We Handle

• Account information (optional): If you choose Google or Apple sign-in, we receive your email address, provider account identifier, Slowingo user ID, display name, and profile photo when provided by the sign-in provider.
• Learning and settings data: Selected languages, learned-word identifiers and status, category and display preferences, alarm settings, device identifier, synchronization status, and similar extension settings.
• Usage analytics: After you save the initial extension settings, the extension sends a randomly generated analytics identifier and events such as side-panel opens, word-popup opens, trigger type, selected language pair, selected category, and alarm interval to Google Analytics. Email addresses, account IDs, and word text are not included in these analytics events.
• Pronunciation text: The extension first uses Chrome's local text-to-speech service. If a compatible local voice is unavailable, the word or short text being pronounced (limited to 100 characters) and its language code may be sent to Google Translate Text-to-Speech.
• Standard network data: Slowingo servers and service providers may process standard request information such as IP address, request time, requested resource, and response status for delivery, security, and reliability.

2. How We Use Information

• Provide vocabulary learning, pronunciation, reminders, filtering, and progress tracking.
• Synchronize learning progress between the Chrome extension and the Slowingo mobile application when you sign in.
• Secure accounts, prevent abuse, diagnose failures, and maintain service reliability.
• Measure and improve extension features after the initial setup is completed.

3. Storage and Service Providers

• Your browser: Extension settings, cached learning content, analytics preference, and local progress are stored using Chrome storage and IndexedDB.
• Google Firebase: Provides optional authentication and real-time device synchronization.
• Cloudflare: Provides Slowingo content delivery, synchronization services, security, and cloud storage for synced learning data.
• Google Analytics: Receives the usage events described above after you complete the initial setup.
• Google Translate Text-to-Speech: Receives pronunciation text only when the local Chrome text-to-speech fallback is unavailable.

We do not sell user data and do not use or transfer it for personalized advertising, creditworthiness, or unrelated purposes. Data is transmitted using HTTPS or WSS.

4. Your Choices

• Signing in is optional. Without sign-in, learning data remains local and cloud synchronization is not used.
• Usage analytics begins after you save the initial extension settings.
• Word alarms, sound, and synchronization controls can be changed in extension settings.

5. Retention and Deletion

Signing out ends the account session but does not automatically delete local learning data or previously synchronized cloud data. You can remove local extension data by uninstalling the extension or clearing its storage in Chrome.

To request deletion of your Slowingo authentication account and synchronized Firebase and Cloudflare records, email support@slowingo.com from the email address associated with your account. We may ask you to verify account ownership before completing the request.

6. Chrome Web Store Limited Use

The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

7. Changes and Contact

We may update this policy when extension functionality or data practices change. Material changes will be disclosed as required before new data practices begin.
